The Butterfly Lion

"All my life I’ll think of you, I promise I will. I won’t ever forget you.”
Following on from last year’s successful production of “Friend or foe,” The Black Dog Theatre Creation are back with an adaptation of the much-loved story of “The Butterfly Lion” by Michael Morpurgo. Bertie recues an orphaned white lion cub from the African veld. They quickly become inseparable until Bertie is sent to boarding school far away in England and the lion is sold to a circus. Bertie swears that one day they will see one another again, but it is the butterfly lion which ensures that their friendship will never be forgotten.
Using puppets, this is a new special retelling of the story specially performed for free to the local community by members of the Black Dog Theatre Creation. Recorded live at the Kelvedon Institute.

The Women's Suffragettes
"We are not here to be law-breakers
We are here to be law-makers."
Inspired by the story of the Women's Suffragette movement to gain Women's right to vote. Retold through the eyes of Molly, a young girl who joins her local campaign group. There she meets a mixture of characters from the grumpy and stern Maud to the loveable, mothering Peggy. Each fighting for a better, fair life where prejudice no longer exists.
The Women's Suffragettes is a new play devised from a six-month community heritage and theatre project bringing to life this moving and inspirational story. Supported by The Heritage Lottery Fund, LSE Library and Alfie James Productions.

At: Hen and Chicken's Theatre, London
