Poignant and often amusing” – this is a beautiful heart-warming solo performance set at a military funeral where a woman reflects on her life both as a serving officer and military wife and the impact that lifestyle has had on her marriage and her children.
Using poetry, storytelling, and performance. The play premiered last year at the Etcetera Theatre, London for Armed Forces Day and was quickly hailed a success by its sell-out audience. My boy Danny
A play by Alfie James
At The Theatre Deli Studio
Friday 14th June 7.30PM
“My Boy Danny” is a play by award-winning Writer, Actor and Director Alfie James. Every night Ange stands by the window looking out with the hope to see her son one last time looking up at her from across the road. Instead, every night for the past eleven months there’s been a shadow standing there in his place. Desperate for answers, Ange lets the shadow in.
Rory is just a regular awkward teenage boy. Or at least he was until that night when it all went wrong. Desperate to tell his story and to reach out to a woman he’d never met but knew so much about.
My boy Danny premiered at the Lion and Unicorn Theatre on 11th October 2021 and received standing ovations each night and quickly gained critical acclaim both as an audio and live piece dealing with issues of gang knife crime and hate crime towards members of the LGBTQIA + community.
Returning for a special one off performance at the Theatre Deli before a planned tour.
Running time: 1 hr approx.
Suggested Ages 12 +
Accessibility: This venue is wheelchair accessible
